Remove AI Detection From Image product facts and verification
Remove AI Detection From Image is a free browser-local image metadata inspector and cleaner for JPEG, PNG and WebP. It removes selected supported metadata blocks without re-encoding image pixels. It does not remove pixel-based watermarks or guarantee AI detector results.
Facts reviewed:
What does the product support?
| Item | Facts and limitations |
|---|---|
| Price and account | Free; no account required for the single-image tool. |
| Formats and file limit | JPEG, PNG and WebP; one image at a time, up to 25 MB (25 × 1024 × 1024 bytes). |
| Image processing | Image bytes and extracted metadata are processed in browser memory, without image uploads or browser-storage persistence. This describes the tool, not all website traffic. |
| Selection | Remove whole supported metadata blocks, not individual fields. EXIF, XMP, PNG text, JPEG comments and selected application blocks are supported. |
| Preservation | Image payloads and color profiles are retained. Necessary EXIF orientation is retained. The original file is not overwritten. |
| Inspection limits | Unknown PNG chunks are retained. Text previews show up to 4,096 characters; decompressed text is capped at 64 KB per block. Not every metadata structure is supported. |
| AI detection and watermarks | No guaranteed AI detector or platform-label outcome. No SynthID or other pixel-watermark removal. No visual naturalization, batch processing or public API in this version. |
How is the cleaning behavior verified?
The cleaner reads file structures, removes selected blocks and preserves image payload bytes. It parses the resulting file again and browser-decodes the copy before enabling download.
Automated regression fixtures cover JPEG, PNG and WebP with EXIF orientations 1, 6 and 8. The tests use an independent image decoder (sharp) to compare decoded pixels and ICC color profiles before and after cleaning. PNG text, compressed-text limits, selective removal, trailing data and damaged inputs are also covered.
Browser checks exercise choosing a file, inspecting it, cleaning and downloading. These are implementation checks on test samples, not an independent certification or a guarantee for every image, browser or metadata format. No AI-detector success rate has been measured.
How can you check your downloaded copy?
- Keep the original file, choose the metadata blocks to clean and download a copy.
- Reopen the copy and inspect remaining supported blocks. If orientation remains, check whether it is the only field left.
- Compare dimensions and display orientation; for specialist workflows, inspect the copy with an independent metadata tool as well.
- Do not interpret “no supported metadata found” as “no watermark” or a successful AI-detector test.
Technical context and sources
The PNG specification defines text chunks. Pixel-based watermarking is a different mechanism, illustrated by Google’s SynthID. These references explain the technologies; they are not endorsements of Remove AI Detection From Image.
